Life On Mars is the pioneering 1976 debut album from Dexter Wansel, widely celebrated as a space‑funk and cosmic jazz‑fusion masterpiece. Inspired in part by David Bowie’s Life On Mars, Wansel crafted his own sci‑fi sound world using swirling oscillators, cosmic sub tones and metallic ARP 2600 leads. His futuristic production style became hugely influential, with Theme From The Planets often cited as one of the earliest foundation beats of hip‑hop. Wansel’s music has since been sampled by artists including Kanye West, Drake, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, J. Cole, Wiz Khalifa and Ice Cube. This Music On Vinyl edition is pressed on 180g black vinyl.
