Solid Ball of Rock is the tenth studio album by British heavy metal legends Saxon, originally released in 1991. Marking a renewed surge of energy for the band, the album introduced new bassist Nibbs Carter, whose songwriting injected fresh intensity and helped shape some of Saxon’s most aggressive material of the era.
Tracks like “Altar of the Gods”, “Baptism of Fire”, and the anthemic title track showcase a revitalised band returning to their classic heavy metal roots with power and conviction. As Biff Byford noted, the album marked a turning point: “For our audience — and without an audience there is no band — our focus returned on Solid Ball of Rock… Since then, we've been right on it.”
